Football Drops 31-17 Decision To Missouri Southern

The Lindenwood football team could not complete a comeback attempt on Saturday afternoon at Hunter Stadium as it fell to Missouri Southern 31-17.
 
Missouri Southern jumped out to a 21-3 lead after it scored on three of its first four possessions. The Lindenwood defense settled down after that, allowing just a field goal and touchdown the rest of the way. The offense though could not find the endzone enough after that, including not scoring on two trips to the redzone in the final three quarters.
 
Missouri Southern finished the game with 470 yards of total offense, including 353 yards on the ground. It scored four times on rushing touchdowns. Lindenwood had 350 yards, with all but two coming through the air. Lindenwood finished the game with four turnovers, compared to two for Misosuri Southern.
 
Connor Harris finished with a game-high 18 tackles, including assisting on a tackle for loss. Roderick Ryles had 13 tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Clint Koons was also in double-figure tackles with 12. Xavier Warren had Lindenwood's lone sack.
 
Offensively, Graham Lindeman threw for 277 yards and one touchdown. His touchdown score came on a fourth-and-11 pass from the Missouri Southern 36-yard line that Greg Coble caught in the endzone. Dillon Miller threw for 71 yards and also had a touchdown pass, this one a screen pass that Lavorrie Johnson caught and ran 37 yards for six points. Sam Sealer had a team-high four receptions, and Jordan Gater had a team-high 72 receiving yards.
 
Game Notes: Lindenwood falls to 1-7 on the season and 1-7 in MIAA play … Missouri Southern goes to 4-4 overall and 4-4 in conference play … the all-time series between the two schools is now tied with each team winning once … ten different Lindenwood players caught a pass in the game … Devante Majors came into the game with just one reception on the season, but caught three passes for 48 yards and three first downs … punter Edwards Burns had a good day with an average of 46.8 yards per punt, a net average of 38.0 yards, and a long punt of 62 yards … Lindenwood will face Central Missouri next Saturday in Warrensburg, Mo. in the MIAA Television Network Game of the Week.
