Field Hockey Beats Mercy 5-1 For Second Win of the Weekend

Lindenwood had their second win of the weekend against Mercy College after coming off a 4-2 win Friday night against Newberry College. Lindenwood started out slow, giving up the first goal of the game. Lindenwood answered back quickly though with Greta Banholzer tying the game up 1-1 with her tenth goal of the season an assist from Ashton Lichvar. This would be the score going into halftime.

The second half was all Lindenwood. The first goal of the second half wasn't scored until ten minutes in, but the Lady Lions went on a tear after it. Scoring the first goal of the second half was Carly Brengosz. Two minutes later, Brengosz assisted on a goal by Tara Robben, giving the Lady Lions a 3-1 lead. The Lady Lions weren't done yet, Ashton Lichvar scored her fifth goal of the season to further the score difference. For the final goal of the game, Chloe Bell scored her second goal of the weekend.

Victoria Gil had four saves for Lindenwood, giving her 75 on the season.  Lindenwood dominated the Mavericks in shots 23-6. The difference was even bigger in corners, where the Lady Lions had 21 compared to Mercy's two, having none in the second-half.
