Lindenwood's field hockey team hoped to go into the ECAC Tournament on four-game winning streak, but fell just short by losing at home to No. 6 Limstone, 2-0.
Â
The Lady Lions started out slow, giving up a goal to Limestone forward Rachel Gormonzi just five minutes into the game. Lindenwood was held in check offensively for the most part for the first half, only getting one shot off and no penalty corners.
Â
Lindenwood started to get going in the second half, but still couldn't find the back of the net. Lindenwood had seven shots and three corners in the second half, but couldn't get on the scoreboard, while Gormanzi added another goal to extend Limestone's lead to 2-0.
Â
Leading the Lady Lions in shots was
Karlie Quinn and
Carly Brengosz with two each. This was Lindenwood's first home loss of the season after four consecutive home wins.
Â
This makes Lindenwood's final regular season record 9-6, and 3-3 in ECAC play. Coming up next for the Lady Lions is the ECAC tournament in Gaffney, S.C. on November 14th.Â
