Women's Volleyball Earns Key MIAA Victory

The Lindenwood women's volleyball team picked up a key MIAA victory on Saturday afternoon at Hyland Arena. The Lady Lions defeated Fort Hays State by scores of 25-22, 23-25, 29-27, and 25-22.
 
The turning point of the match came in the third set when both teams had set point opportunities. Lindenwood finally won by scoring the final three points of the set, all on errors by the Tigers.
 
The Lady Lions closed out the match with another tight set in the fourth. The teams traded the lead late before Lindenwood eventually used a 4-0 run to get a 23-20 lead. Fort Hays State got within one at 23-22, but Lindenwood closed out the match by scoring the final two points.
 
Lindenwood's defense was the difference as the team had 15 more digs and two more blocks in the match. Offensively, the Lions had eight more kills and six more service aces.
 
Nicole Hallam led the team with 17 kills and 19.0 points, and she hit a team-high .394. Sara Gregor and Kayla Guyot also had double-figure kills with 11 apiece. Sarah-Jane Pavlik had 45 assists and Alex Dahlstrom finished with three service aces.
 
Anna Reichert led Lindenwood in the digs department with 20, and Pavlik finished with 13. Guyot had seven total blocks, including two solo blocks.
 
Lindenwood improves to 5-11 overall and 2-6 in the MIAA. The Lady Lions will travel to Central Oklahoma and Missouri Southern next weekend.
