The Lindenwood Lady Lions ended their regular season on a high note Sunday afternoon in St. Charles. The Lady Lions scored the game's only goal in the 78
th minute and won the game over the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats 1-0.
Both teams played a very tough defensive style of soccer in the first half. There were only a total of seven shots combined in the first 90 minutes.
In the second half, Lindenwood started to put some more pressure on the Bearcats defense. Finally, in the 78
th minute, the Lady Lions lone senior,
Christie Byrne, broke the scoreless tie with her first goal of the season.
Lauren Groathouse started in the net for the home team and earned the shutout stopping both shots she faced.
With the win the Lady Lions earned the No. 5 seed in the MIAA postseason tournament. Lindenwood will travel to Edmond, Okla. to take on the Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Nov. 5.
