The Lindenwood women's hockey team fell to Penn State on Friday night in University Park, Pa. by a 3-0 score.
Â
The Nittany Lions came out hot as they outshot the Lady Lions by a 14-3 margin in the first period. Neither team scored though as Lindenwood's
Nicole Hensley made saves on all 14 Penn State shots.
Â
Lindenwood had the shots advantage in the second period, but it was Penn State that got on the scoreboard first. The Nittany Lions scored at the 10:37 mark of the period and they led 1-0 after two periods.
Â
Only one penalty was called through the first two periods, but the power play helped Penn State put the game away in the final period. The Nittany Lions scored back-to-back power-play goals within 38 seconds of each other midway through the period to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
Â
That was enough as Lindenwood managed just four shots the rest of the way as Penn State recorded its first shutout of the season.
Â
Hensley finished the contest with 28 saves.
Brooke Peden had a team-high three blocks, and
Alyssa West led the team with three shots on goal.
Â
Lindenwood and Penn State will continue their series on Saturday afternoon.
