The Lindenwood men's basketball team snapped a four-game losing skid on Thursday night with a 83-64 win over the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers in St. Charles. The Lions shot a scorching 58 percent from the field and 68 percent from behind the arc.
Lindenwood scored the first basket of the game and never looked back leading the whole way. Things started quickly for Lindenwood. The Lions jumped out on a 17-4 run to take a 13-point advantage.
The Lopers could only cut the deficit to five in the first half and the Lions headed into the locker room with a nine-point advantage.
Coming out of the break both teams continued to shoot the ball with high efficiency. The Lopers were able to cut the Lions lead to four with 13:47 to go but after that Lindenwood took control.
The Lions went on a 20-5 run and blew the game wide open. Lindenwood would lead by as many as 24 in the final half and rolled to its first conference win of the season.
Darris Smith led the way for the Lions scoring 22 points including going four-for-five from behind the arc.
Cory Arentsen chipped in with 20 and
Chanse Creekmur scored 11.
The win improved the Lions to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in MIAA play. Lindenwood will be right back in action Saturday afternoon at home against Washburn.
