Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Suffers First Loss

The Lindenwood women's basketball team had an off-night offensively as it fell for the first time in 2014-15. The Lady Lions dropped their MIAA opener by a 76-47 score at Central Oklahoma.

The Lady Lions used an early 6-0 run to take a 6-2 lead in the game, but that would be the only time they held the lead. Lindenwood trailed just 16-14 midway through the first half, but Central Oklahoma would go on a 22-2 run that the Lady Lions would not be able to overcome. The Bronchos led 40-21 at halftime and eventually won the game by 29 points.

Lindenwood shot just 30.4 percent from the field, including one-of-12 from the three-point line. It also turned the ball over 18 times, nine more than Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos also hit 10 three-pointers in their win.

Jenny Rocha led Lindenwood on the night with 18 points. She made six-of-11 shots from the field and six-of-nine from the free-throw line. Kassidy Gengenbacher added 14 points, and tied Vanessa Zailo with seven rebounds. Jonna Raflund chipped in with eight points, and Bre Zanders had a team-high three assists.

The Lady Lions fall to 5-1 on the season. Lindenwood will look for its first MIAA win of the year on Saturday at Northeastern State.
