Lindenwood Graduate Named Head Football Coach At Kansas

A Lindenwood alumnus, David Beaty, has been named the head football coach at the University of Kansas, which is in one of the five major conferences in NCAA Division I.

Beaty was a member of Lindenwood's inaugural varsity football team in 1990 and played four years for the Lions. He led the team in receptions in 1991, 1992, and 1993, and was a two-time team captain.

After coaching at the high school level from 1994-2005, Beaty advanced to the college level in 2006 as an assistant coach at Rice, where he was the pass game coordinator from 2006-07. He was later the wide receivers coach at Kansas from from 2008 to 2009, the offensive coordinator at Rice in 2010, the co-offensive coordinator at Kansas in 2011, and the wide receiver coach at Texas A&M from 2012 to 2014. He was also the recruiting coordinator at Texas A&M starting in 2013 and played a big role in recruiting the Dallas area for the Aggies.

As the wide receiver coach at Texas A&M, he helped Mike Evans earn first-team All-American honors, and the Aggies set school records for receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, and completion percentage during his time there.

In his previous stints at Kansas, he helped develop receivers Kerry Meier and Dezmon Briscoe into NFL-caliber players. In 2008, Kansas wide receivers set school records in season receptions, game receptions, season yards, game yards, and season touchdowns.
