The Lindenwood women's gymnastics team put together its top regular season performance in program history on Sunday at Texas Woman's. The Lady Lions finished with a score of 192.650, the second-best mark in program history behind last year's conference championship showing.
Lindenwood finished second out of three teams at the tri-meet. The host school barely won the competition as they finished just 0.025 ahead of the Lady Lions. Lindenwood did earn a victory over Centenary which finished with a 189.150.
As a team, Lindenwood won the vault and floor competitions. On the vault, it scored a 48.150 and on the floor, it set a school record with a 48.850. That mark was the highest the team has ever scored in any single event. The Lady Lions set a season-high on the bars with a 48.325, and it recorded a score of 47.325 on the beam.
Individually,
Rachel Zabawa and
Emily Turik both won an individual title. Zabawa set a new Lindenwood record on the floor with a mark of 9.850. Turik tied for the second-best score in school history on the bars with a 9.825, which was also good enough to tie for first at this event.
Zabawa also led the team on the vault with a 9.700.
Alicia Floyd, Aijea Hargrave, and Turik also had a 9.600 or higher in that event. On the bars,
Courtney Heise was second on the team with a 9.750, and
Aubree Horn had a score of 9.675. The top performers on the beam were
Hannah Rector and Zabawa as both had a 9.500. On the floor, Hargrave had the sixth-best mark in school history with a 9.800. Turik also broke into the top-10 in that event with a 9.775, and
Tori Beckwith and Rector both had a 9.700 or higher.
In the all-around, Turik had the best mark this season by Lindenwood with a 38.675. That score was the third-best all-around score in the program's short history.
Lindenwood is back in action at home this week with a Friday evening contest against Illinois State. The dual will have a special location at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
