Session One - Complete ResultsThe Lindenwood women's gymnastics team crowned five first-team All-Americans on Friday on day one of the USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships. The Lady Lions finished third as a team in the first semifinal session of the day and just missed advancing to Saturday's team finals.
The Lady Lions finished with a team score of 192.900, the fifth-best mark in program history. Lindenwood defeated Cornell by nearly a point (191.950), but it lost to Air Force (193.800) and Bridgeport (193.625).
Lindenwood was in second place after three rotations after it set a school record on the vault with a 48.550. The five-time defending USA Gymnastics Champions, Bridgeport, scored a 49.000 on the floor in the final rotation, while the Lady Lions scored a 47.950 on their final rotation on the bars.
Five Lady Lions earned first-team All-American honors by advancing to Sunday's individual finals.
Rachel Zabawa earned two All-American honors in the vault and floor. She tied for third on the vault in the first session with a 9.800 and tied for fourth on the floor with a 9.775. One of the gymnasts matching her score on the floor was teammate
Ajiea Hargrave who was the only Lindenwood freshman to earn All-American honors.
On the bars,
Courtney Heise tied for first in the session with a 9.875, the second-best score in program history.
Emily Turik set a personal-best on the bars with a 9.850 which tied her for third. On the beam,
Valeri Ingui tied for the best mark with a 9.725.
Alicia Floyd was a second-team All-American on the beam after coming in eighth with a 9.650.
Lindenwood will conclude its season on Sunday when the five first-team All-Americans go for USA Gymnastics individual national championships during the individual finals.
