Gymnastics Ends Season With High Finishes At USA Gymnastics Individual Finals

The Lindenwood women's gymnastics team ended its second season on Sunday with five individuals competing in the individual finals at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships.
 
Rachel Zabawa had the highest finish for Lindenwood when she came in second in the vault. She scored a 9.8125, the fourth-highest mark in program history, and tied in the runner-up position. Zabawa also competed in the floor and came in sixth with a 9.800, another top-10 program mark.
 
Valeri Ingui finished third in the beam competition. She recorded a mark of 9.775 which was another top-10 mark for the program.
 
Two Lady Lions advanced to the individual finals on the bars. Emily Turik ended her outstanding collegiate career with a score of 9.825, her second-best mark of her career in that event. Courtney Heise finished sixth with a score of 9.800.
 
The final Lindenwood gymnasts that competed was freshman Ajiea Hargrave, who recorded a mark of 9.225 on the floor.
 
The Lady Lions had a breakthrough season in 2014. Among the highlights was finishing third in the MIC Championships, advancing to the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships for the first time as a team, and setting a new program record with a score of 194.450 in a dual at Big 10 Illinois.
