The Lindenwood men's and women's tennis teams defeated Washburn on Wednesday with the men winning 7-2 while the women won by a 5-4 final.
The men found themselves down by one after the first doubles match, but quickly responded.
Filip Bogic and
Sergio Lopez defeated their opponent 8-6 and they were followed by the tandem of Yoshi Ysa and
Nicholas Bruenger who won their match 8-6. Similar to doubles competition, the men fell in the first singles match and then answered with five straight wins. Bogic, Ysa, Bruenger, and Lopez each had a shutout game in their two-set matches.
The Lady Lions were down 2-1 after doubles play with the only win coming from
Daria Ivanova and
Mariona Pinol who won 8-5. After falling behind 4-1 the Lady Lions put together a four-match win streak to defeat Washburn 5-4. Ivanova kept the dual alive after she fell behind 1-0 due to a loss in game one. The Lady Lions won the following eight games to earn the conference victory.
Lindenwood will return to action tomorrow for the women against Missouri-St. Louis starting at 3:30 p.m. and the men with play at Missouri-St. Louis on Monday starting at 3:30 p.m.
