Over the weekend, Lindenwood's Men and Women's teams participated in the Bethany Swedes Invitational, the men's second invitational of the season and the women's first. The invitational had teams from various divisions; allowing both teams to gain valuable experience from various opponents.
The men's tennis team looked to carry some momentum after seeing some success last week. Lindenwood was met with stiff competition, but still managed to achieve a number of wins in the men's singles flights.
Yoshikazu Ysa won his first round matchup in flight A, 7-5, 3-0.
Nicholas Bruenger also had success in the first round before falling in the second round in flight B.
Slobodan Bavrlic followed this trend, by rolling through his round matchup, but not making it to the semifinals of flight C.
The women hoped to start off their season with some success.
Mariona Pinol experienced the most success of any of the Lindenwood tennis players at the invitational. Pinol made it to the semifinals of the women's singles flight B. The Lindenwood women in flight D took care of business in the first round with
Diana Castro and
Alexandra Medvedeva winning their first round matches. They ended up falling just short of the semifinals. For the doubles, Lindenwood had another pair of first round advancers with
Gloria Marras and
Clara Piccamiglio along with
Daria Ivanova and
Mariona Pinol. Both pairs were unable to reach the finals.
