Women's rugby split two games played over the course of four days, falling to Davenport University 20-5 on the road Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich., then winning at home against Eastern Illinois 24-13 Tuesday night at Hunter Stadium.
Lady Lions Warm Up before Davenport Match While playing solid defense for the most part, the Lady Lions were never able to get their offense rolling against the Panthers. The end result was just one score in the game for Lindenwood.
The home opener was a different story. With the partisan crowd in support, the Lady Lions mounted a steady attack and slowly pulled away, leading 24-8 at one point before giving up a try in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Davon Thomas and Kim Shepard led the offense with two scores each. Alexis Mild and Jolene Steibel each booted one conversion.
Lindenwood is now 2-1 on the season. The Lady Lions head back on the road for their next match against Southern Illinois September 27. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Carbondale, Ill.
