After a promising start, the Lindenwood women's hockey team was dealt a 7-1 loss to Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Â
Shots were nearly even in the first period as the Lady Lions had just one less than Robert Morris at 10-9. Lindenwood also had the only goal as
Lyndsay Kirkham had an unassisted goal at the 11:09 mark.
Â
Lindenwood was not as fortunate though for the final two periods. Robert Morris outshot the Lady Lions 36-12 in those two periods, and the Colonials put the game away with six second-period goals.
Â
One of the bright spots for the Lady Lions was the play of backup goalie
Sarah McGall who stopped 17-of-18 shots in the final period.
Saville Pickar had a +1 plus/minus in the game.
Carrie Atkinson and
Emily Gunderson each had a team-high three blocks.
Â
Lindenwood returns home next weekend for a two-game series against RIT.
