Lindenwood's women's ice hockey team bounced back with a 1-0 win after a tough loss to the RIT Tigers last night. The Lady Lions split the series 1-1. The win gives Lindenwood its most Division I victories in program history.
Â
Lindenwood opened up similar to last night, with a goal coming just 23 seconds in the first period. The goal was at the hands of
Lyndsay Kirkham.
Jordyn Constance and
Shara Jasper assisted on the early goal. This turned out to be the only goal of the entire game, as the Lady Lions held the Tigers out of the net.
Â
Lindenwood's power-play defense played a huge role in the Lady Lions shut-out. The Lady Lions withstood a minute of a five on three power-play, with another 30 seconds of a five on four power-play. Along with great defense, the play in goal by
Nicole Hensley was the main contributor to the power-play defense. Hensley recorded her second shutout of the season, and eighth win of the season.
Â
The home victory puts Lindenwood's record at 8-16-1, including 5-8-1 in CHA play. The Lady Lions don't get much down time, as they get ready to host Penn State next weekend in the Lindenwood Ice Arena for "Pink the Rink."
