The Lindenwood women's gymnastics team had its best season-opening performance on Friday night in Lincoln, Neb. against No. 9 Nebraska. The Lady Lions lost the dual, but recorded a team score of 190.550.

Lindenwood had its best score on its first event of the night on the bars. The Lady Lions recorded a mark of 48.150, the sixth-highest in program history.
Trystien Charles led the team with a 9.775, followed by freshman Shayln Garay with a 9.725.

The Lady Lions had a mark of 47.375 on the vault. They were led by another freshman on that event as
Kierstin Sokolowski had a 9.700. Two-time USA Gymnastics vault All-American
Rachel Zabawa was second on the team with a 9.525.

Zabawa, also an All-American on the floor, led the team in that event with a 9.725.
Lauren Cartmell recorded a mark of 9.625, and
Hannah Rector had a 9.600. Those three gymnasts helped Lindenwood score 47.775 in that event.

Lindenwood ended the night on the beam and had a score of 47.250. Sokolowski led Lindenwood with a 9.675, edging out
Alicia Floyd who had a 9.625.

Nebraska won the competition with a team score of 195.300. In the all-around, Sokolowski was third overall with a mark of 38.025.

Lindenwood will be in action next Friday at Western Michigan.
