The Lindenwood women's hockey team jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Friday at the Lindenwood Ice Arena, but it couldn't hold on in a 3-2 loss to Minnesota State.
Â
The Lady Lions jumped out early with the second-fastest goal in program history.
Jordyn Constance netted a goal just 21 seconds into the game, with assists from Britany Gillanders and
Carrie Atkinson. That was the goal of the first period as Lindenwood outshot the Mavericks 11-6.
Â
Just over two minutes into the second period, Constance scored her second goal of the game.
Shara Jasper got an assist on the power-play goal. Minnesota State would score two times though in that period, including a power-play goal of its own with just 11 seconds left.
Â
In the third period, Minnesota State scored the game-winner at the 8:25 mark. The Lady Lions managed just four shots in that final period and could not score the equalizer.
Â
Lindenwood and Minnesota State will conclude their three-game series on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.
