Lady Lions Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

The Lindenwood field hockey team took down ECAC rival Bellarmine for the second time this season as it improves its ECAC record to 4-0.

After trailing early in the game 2-0 and allowing five penalty shots within the first ten minutes, the Lady Lions scored off its own goal off the post. Before halftime, Greta Banholzer scored her seventh goal of the season off of Karlie Quinn's seventh assist.

The Lady Lions held the fort on defense during the second half, saving five shots on goal and fending off ten shots without allowing a score. Although Bellarmine controlled the ball on offense, the Lady Lions scored the crucial goal as Maroussia Buysschaert recorded her second goal of the season at the 50:02 mark.

Bellarmine had the edge in penalty shots with 19 while the Lady Lions posted nine. Victoria Gil saved seven shots while allowing two goals and facing 20 shots. Gil now has 75 saves on the season.

Today's game was Pink Day, in which the Lady Lions showed their support for breast cancer awareness by wearing pink socks.

The Lady Lions return to action on Sunday at 11:00 am to play against Dowling at Hunter Stadium.
