The Lindenwood men's soccer team defeated the No. 15 ranked Northeastern State Riverhawks, 2-1 on Sunday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.

The hard work paid off for Lindenwood in the 22nd minute as Alfredo Paez picked up a loose ball in front of the Northeastern State net and sent it into the lower-right corner, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. For Paez, the goal was his fourth of the season. At the 35:34 mark of the first-half the Riverhawks would capitalize off of penalty kick opportunity, tying the game 1-1. However, at the 43:37 mark of the half, the Lions would get a second opportunity at a penalty kick as Jose Sanchez delivered his third goal of the season, and a 2-1 Lion advantage, which they would carry into halftime. The second-half saw both teams exchanging opportunities on each end of the field, however, neither team was able to breakthrough and the game ended 2-1. In goal for the Lions, Andrew Hamerlinck made eight saves, while allowing one goal against en route to his seventh victory of the season.
