Autumn Olendorff Scores First Career Goal to Lead Lady Lions Past Missouri Western

A late first-half score by junior Autumn Olendorff proved to be enough on Sunday afternoon as the Lindenwood women's soccer team bested Missouri Western 1-0 at Hunter Stadium.

A balanced first half between the two MIAA teams saw each have five shots, but the Lady Lions put three on goal compared to Missouri Western's one. Minimal opportunities presented itself the first 45 minutes, but soon after a yellow card was given to the Griffons' bench, Lindenwood was able to take advantage of the emotion. On a free kick attempt, Miranda Huebner drove the ball into the box that Kristin Brewer flicked before Olendorff sent it in past Missouri Western's goalkeeper to give the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead just 46 seconds before half time.

Less chances were available in the second half, but Missouri Western received the most opportunities outshooting the Lady Lions 4-1. Getting three on goal, Lindenwood goalkeeper Jordan Gnolfo turned away each shot to keep the Lady Lions' lead in check. Less than two minutes left in the second-half, Missouri Western had its less chance, but the shot sailed wide and the final whistle blew to give Lindenwood another win and continue its hot streak.

With this win, the Lady Lions have four of the last five matches with its other result being a tie vs. Central Oklahoma. Their record improves to 5-7-4, and a 3-4-2 clip in MIAA play. During its hot streak, Lindenwood now has 11 points in the conference, which is good for a three-way tie for eighth place. The top eight teams in MIAA get the opportunity to play for a conference crown starting November 4.

With two matches remaining on the schedule, the Lady Lions will have their hands full when rival No. 10 Central Missouri visits St. Charles for a 6 p.m. kickoff next Friday.
