Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Lady Lions Storm Back to Defeat Northwest Missouri State

After being down two sets to none, the Lindenwood women's volleyball team surged back to beat conference rival Northwest Missouri State 15-13 in the fifth set. The Lady Lions avenge their 3-0 loss to the Bearcats back on October 9.

Both teams remained neck-in-neck during the first set with the Lady Lions leading 24-20 at one point. The Bearcats came back to barely take the set by a score of 29-27. The Lady Lions posted 19 kills to the Bearcats 14. During the second set, the teams continued the same trend of being dead-even as there were nine tie scores and five lead changes. However, the Bearcats won 25-23 behind their 14 kills to only five errors while the Lady Lions added 15 kills.

Then the quest of a comeback began. The Lady Lions recorded 12 kills with a 52 side-out percentage that contributed to their dominating 25-19 third set performance.

They did not slow down. Although three ties were recorded, the Lady Lions never trailed during the fourth set as they won 25-19 again. They owned a .308 attack rate in which they went 14 for 20 on side-out attacks.

Both teams battled to the bitter end, but the Lady Lions took the victory 15-13 in the final set. They posted 11 kills for a .375 attack rate and 76 percent from side out.

Five Lady Lions collected double-figures in kills. Alex Dahlstrom led the way with 17 kills while Jessica Krygsheld had 16. For the fourth time this season, Allyson Clancy has assisted 50 or more times, recording 57 against the Bearcats. Clancy and Megan Hellewege also had season-highs 23 digs each.

The Lady Lions improve to 14-15 overall and 5-12 in MIAA play. They will host the final regular season game against Missouri Western on Saturday at 6 pm in Hyland Arena.
