Men's Ice Hockey Splits Series with Davenport University

After winning their first game against Davenport University on Friday night, the Lions lost their second game against the Panthers 3-2 tonight at the Patterson Ice Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.

It was the Panthers that had the strong start, scoring on a power play in the first period and again in the second period.

In the beginning of the third period, the Lions fought back with a goal from Riley Spraggs from Graham Zagrodney and Jake Fairchild. Ten minutes later, Mike Lozano kept up the streak with a power play goal assisted by Spraggs. However, Davenport would get the last goal with a power play at the end of the period to get the final score.

The Lions outshot the Panthers 28-26, and keeper Cody Karpinski stopped an impressive 23 of the 26. Davenport went 2 for 5 on power plays, while Lindenwood only made 1 of 7.

With the loss, the Lions move to 9-6-0 for the season. They will have the home advantage for their next game on November 20 against University of Illinois. The puck drops at 7 p.m. in Wentzville, Mo., and can be live streamed through STL Sports Productions.
