The Lindenwood wrestling team picked up where they left off from the Central Missouri Open last weekend as three Lions –
Terrel Wilbourn,
David Hamil, and
Daniel Swan – won their weight classes in the Maryville Kaufman-Brand Open on Saturday. Hamil and Swan remain undefeated after winning their weight classes at Central Missouri. Eight other wrestlers placed.
Wilbourn started his 2015-16 campaign with a title in the Elite 165 weight class. He defeated Dimitri Willis from Maryville by a 3-2 decision in the finals. Competing in the same class,
Kyle Jolas reached the semi-finals before falling. He placed fourth after barely losing in a 2-0 decision for third place.
Hamil continued his impressive start to his Lion career by capturing the Amateur 184 weight class. He edged out Jacob Hill of Northeastern Oklahoma in a 6-3 decision in the finals.
Swan competed in the Amateur 125 weight class along with teammates who also placed,
Corbin Howard and
Carlos Jacquez. Swan and Howard reached the finals to face each other in which Swan won by a 9-5 decision to take the division. Jacquez finished sixth.
Hunter Haralson reached the finals in the Elite 133 weight class, but fell to Zach Synon of Missouri in a 7-1 decision.
Dillon Archer collected a second place award after battling tough against Ryan Beltz from Maryville in a 16-8 major decision final.
Batchka Zulkhuu finished third in the Elite 174 weight class after his opponent had a medical forfeit.
Shea Spradley took fourth place in the Amateur 157 weight class while
Patrick Kristen finished sixth in the Amateur 174 weight class.
