Women's rugby was stopped by Life University 25-14 Saturday morning at the Life University Pitch in Marietta, Ga.
The Lady Lions scored their only try of the first half when AnnaKaren Pedraza punched it in from a pick-and-go five meters out. McKenzie Hawkins made the corner conversion and Lindenwood trailed 10-7 at the break.
The lone second half try came from Gioanna Cruz. She picked up the ball off the scrum as the #8 and darted into the corner of the try zone. Hawkins kicked her second corner conversion of the game to give the Lady Lions 14 points, but it wasn't enough.
Head Coach Billy Nicholas summed up his team's play.
"It was a very physical match, but we showed many flashes of positive play and good decision making, but, we left a few opportunities out there," he said. "Despite the loss, it was another great opportunity for this young squad to develop chemistry and work through competitive matches."
With the loss, Lindenwood dropped to 6-2 for the fall campaign.
