Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Falls to No. 9 Washburn

The Lindenwood women's volleyball team fell to the No. 9 Washburn Ichabods 3-0 Friday night in Topeka, Kan.

The Lady Lions got down 6-1 early after a pair of attack errors by Bailey Dvorak. The Ichabods built off that momentum to carry to a 22-13 lead late in the first set. Lindenwood was able to rally off a few points to get to 16 from a couple kills by Jessica Krygsheld, but the comeback attempt ended there as Washburn took the first set 25-16.

Lindenwood hung with the Ichabods midway through the second set trailing 12-9 with kills from Alex Dahlstrom and a service ace by Krygsheld. Washburn went on a 4-0 run to cause a Lindenwood timeout, but it didn't help. Another kill by Krygsheld would bring the Lady Lions within eight, but another error would doom Lindenwood as Washburn took the second set by the same score as the first, 25-16.

Digging a 2-0 hole for itself, Lindenwood came out in the third set looking determined bringing a 7-7 tie through the first 14 points by another pair of kills by Krygsheld, a kill by Dahlstrom, and a big kill by Dvorak to bring the set even. Mistakes remained the name of the game as Washburn carried to a 16-11 lead because of another couple service errors by the Lady Lions. A kill by Dahlstrom brought Lindenwood to within two with Washburn only needing three more points to seal the match. Salvaging one more point for the Lady Lions, the Washburn took the win 25-21 after a kill.

Krygsheld led the Lady Lions with nine kills, followed by Dahlstrom with eight, and Dvorak with seven. Allyson Clancy finished with 29 assists, while Kayla Guyot and Dahlstrom had five blocks apiece.

With the loss, the Lady Lions drop to .500 at 13-13, and 4-10 in the MIAA. Lindenwood gets back to the court Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Emporia State in Emporia, Kan. as they look to still make a push for the conference tournament that begins November 17.
