Lions Football Loses Final Road Game Of 2015

The Lindenwood football team fell to Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon in Edmond, Okla. by a 37-20 score.

The game went back-and-forth throughout the day with the Bronchos having the final momentum swing. Central Oklahoma started the contest by scoring on its first three possessions with a touchdown and two field goals.

After gaining negative yards through its first three drives, the Lions finally got some momentum late in the first quarter. On back-to-back plays, Greg Coble caught two receptions for 68 yards, with the final being a 30-yard touchdown reception.

Central Oklahoma answered with another touchdown to go back up 20-7, but Coble quickly helped the Lions get back within one score. He recorded a 65-yard reception that put Lindenwood inside the Bronchos' 10-yard line. DeAngelo Strickling then scored on a nine-yard run to make the score 20-13.

Lindenwood's defense took over for the rest of the half, including a Connor Harris interception that he returned to the five-yard line. Lavorrie Johnson then put the ball into the endzone on a fourth-and-one play that made the game tied at 20 at halftime.

In the second half, Central Oklahoma regained momentum on its second drive of the third quarter with a long touchdown pass play. The Bronchos also kicked a field goal late in the quarter to go up 30-20.

Lindenwood's offense struggled throughout the final half, and good field position helped the Bronchos score the final touchdown of the game just over one minute into the fourth quarter. The Lions couldn't regain the momentum a second time, including turning the ball over the last two times they touched the ball.

Central Oklahoma outgained Lindenwood 433-264 for the game, including a 237-32 edge in rushing yards. The Lions had 36 more passing yards in the game than the Bronchos.

Besides his interception, Harris also had a team-high 16 tackles. Dante Lewis had the team's only sack, and Cortland Dunlap, Justin Taylor, and Skyler Crall all had a hand in a tackle for a loss. Offensively, Coble led the team with 169 receiving yards on nine receptions. Mason Bendigo threw for 232 yards and had one touchdown pass.
