Two Lindenwood football players, linebacker
Connor Harris and punter
Matt Klingler, were named NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA) First-Team All-Americans on Tuesday. They are the first Lion players to earn first-team All-American honors in the CCA (formerly Daktronics) voting.
Harris was named an All-American for the second time in his career after earning second-team CCA All-American honors last season. He was one of just three junior defenders to earn first-team honors this year.
Harris led Lindenwood this past season with 184 total tackles, 86 solo tackles, 98 assisted tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, nine passes defended, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble. His tackles total set a new NCAA Division II record, and he also set the MIAA career tackles record during the season.
Klingler has now been named an All-American at both the NAIA and NCAA Division II levels. In his only season as a Lion, he led NCAA Division II with 44.4 yards per punt, and that mark also set a new Lindenwood single-season record. He punted 60 times this past season and had 16 punts of 50 yards or longer. He had 13 punts inside the 20-yard line and just two touchbacks. Prior to coming to Lindenwood, Klingler earned two All-American honors at St. Ambrose.
Lindenwood football continues its streak of having an All-American in every season since it moved to the NCAA Division II level. This season is the first time that it has two first-team NCAA All-Americans in a season, and it joins NCAA Division II finalist Northwest Missouri as the only MIAA schools on the CCA list with two first-team selections.
