Men's Basketball Ends 2015 At Home Against Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri

This Week's Games At A Glance
• The Lindenwood men's basketball team has its final two games before its Christmas break this Friday and Sunday at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions take on Missouri Western on Friday at 7:30 p.m., followed by a game against MIAA leader and nationally-ranked Northwest Missouri on Sunday at 3 p.m.

• The Lions went 1-1 against the two Oklahoma schools in the MIAA in their last two outings. Lindenwood defeated Northeastern by a 75-63 score, but lost to Central Oklahoma by a 66-59 margin.

• Missouri Western will come to St. Charles with a 3-7 overall record and a 1-3 conference mark. After a 2-4 non-conference season, the Griffons have defeated Pittsburg State in MIAA play, but have lost to Central Missouri, Southwest Baptist, and Missouri Southern.

• No. 25 Northwest Missouri is currently the top team in the MIAA with a 6-2 overall record and a 4-0 MIAA mark. The Bearcats, who have won the last two MIAA regular season titles, have won every conference game this season by 12 or more points.

• Lindenwood is 4-1 all-time against Missouri Western, including a 1-1 record last season. The Lions are 0-8 all-time against Northwest Missouri, including a 0-2 mark in 2014-15.

Lindenwood Notes
• Lindenwood has held every MIAA opponent under 75 points, and only two of its seven opponents this year have scored over that mark.

• The Lions are 6-0 when scoring 75 or more points this season, and 0-3 when falling short of that mark.

• Lindenwood ranks third in the MIAA in scoring defense, allowing under 70 points a game. The team is first in the conference by holding opponents to just 40 percent shooting from the field.

• The Lions are also the MIAA's leader in free-throw percentage, as they have made 77.9 percent of their attempts this season. Lindenwood is shooting 80 percent in the final two minutes of games.

• Lindenwood has been a second-half team offensively this year, averaging 41.4 points a game in the final 20 minutes of the game, compared to 32.6 points in the first 20 minutes.

• Lindenwood ranks 11th in the nation in free-throw percentage. It is also 23rd in blocked shots and 25th in field-goal percentage defense.

• Lindenwood has outrebounded every opponent but one this season. The Lions are second in the MIAA with a +6.2 rebounding margin, and is 40th in NCAA Division II with that mark.

• In just MIAA games, Cory Arentsen leads the conference with 29.7 points a game, and he is fourth with 8.0 rebounds a game. He is making nearly four three-pointers a game in that span.

• Stanislas Heili blocked a season-high five shots against Central Oklahoma, and now leads the conference with 2.7 blocks a game. He has 10 more blocks than the next closest player. Heili is 13th in the nation in blocks.

• Zachary Biggs had a career-high 12 rebounds versus Central Oklahoma, the second double-figure rebounding game of his career.

• Cory Arentsen leads the MIAA with a 92.2 free-throw percentage. He is 25th nationally with that mark.

• Nick Van Osdale has the top plus/minus on the team per 40 minutes of playing time, with a mark of +13.61. For the season total, Cory Arentsen leads with a +50 plus/minus.

• Stanislas Heili and Zachary Biggs are shooting a combined 69 percent from the field on the season. Heili would lead the MIAA with a .750 percentage, but falls just shy of the minimum number of shots. Biggs is shooting 62.8 percent from the field.

A Look At This Week's Opponents
• Missouri Western is among the MIAA leaders by shooting three-pointers over 22 times a contest. The Griffons have made 33.6 percent of their three-pointers, and Cole Clearman and Trey Sampson each have 21 made three-pointers on the year.

• Aaron Emmanuel leads Missouri Western with 12.1 points and 3.50 assists a game, and he is pulling down 6.1 boards a contest.

• Northwest Missouri leads the MIAA, and is in the top-10 nationally, by allowing just 64.0 points a game.

• The Bearcats are led by Justin Pitts who is sixth in the MIAA with 18.5 points a game, and second with 4.9 assists a contest. Three other players are averaging double-figure points in Connor Crooker, D'Vante Mosby, and Anthony Woods.
