Series Notes-The Lindenwood women's hockey team continues its 2015-16 season this Friday and Saturday against conference opponent, the R.I.T. Tigers. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. on both days from the Gene Polisseni Center in Rochester, N.Y.
-This past weekend the Lady Lions dropped both games at home vs. WCHA opponent, the St. Cloud State Huskies. The Lady Lions fell to the Huskies on Saturday afternoon by a score of 2-0, marking the second time the team has been shutout in its last four games. On Sunday, Lindenwood extended its winless streak to nine games, falling to St. Cloud, 3-2.
-A season ago the Lady Lions and Tigers matched up four times during CHA play. Lindenwood won the season series 2-1-1, holding the Tigers to one goal or less during three of the four matchups. During their final matchup on Jan. 31 in Wentzville, Mo., goaltender
Nicole Hensley turned in a shutout performance, stopping all 16 shots sent her way as the Lady Lions skated to a 1-0 victory. R.I.T. leads the all-time series 5-3-4 dating back to the first matchup between the schools in December of 2012.
-The two-time defending CHA champion R.I.T. Tigers enter the weekend series with a record of 4-14-0 on the season, and 0-6-0 within the conference. The Tigers were swept at home by Princeton this past weekend. R.I.T. is led offensively by the attack of Carly Payerl and Cassie Clayton who have each tallied 10 points for the season.
Lindenwood Notes-Freshman
Shannon Morris-Reade scored her fifth goal of the season on Sunday afternoon. The goal brought Morris-Reade into a tie for second on the team in goals and points. Morris-Reade's five goals tie her with
Britannia Gillanders, while her 12 points bring her even with Sarah Bobrowksi.
Shara Jasper is currently the team-leader in both categories with 11 goals and 17 points.
-With her first period score on Sunday vs. St. Cloud State, freshman forward
Tirra Lemoine tallied her first-career goal and first-career point during the Lady Lions eventual 3-2 defeat.
-Defenders
Carrie Atkinson and
Tae Otte are tied for the team lead in blocked shots with 33 each through the first 16 games. Freshman
Ally Larson ranks third on the team with 22 blocked shots.
-Following her two starts over the weekend,
Nicole Hensley added 40 saves to her career total, growing the number to 3,519. Hensley currently ranks third all-time in career saves in NCAA history, and 290 behind the all-time mark of 3,809.
-The Lindenwood penalty kill managed to successfully kill off all six of its opportunities this past weekend vs. St. Cloud State. Dating back to the October 31 contest vs. Penn State, the Lady Lions have killed off 27 of the 29 penalties against, and are operating at a 93.1% success rate during that time.
-The Lady Lions power play unit has failed to register a goal in its last nine games played, extending its mark to 0-16 during that time, following three failed attempts this weekend vs. St. Cloud State.
-Up next for the Lady Lions is a two-game home series with the Robert Morris Colonials on Dec. 12-13. The Colonials currently rank third in the CHA with a conference record of 3-2-1, and an overall mark of 9-5-2.
