Wrestling has Strong Showing at Wisconsin Open

The Lindenwood wrestling team had a solid outing in the 44th Annual Wisconsin Open after Hunter Haralson won his 133 weight class and eight of his teammates placed in the top six of their weight class.
 
Derek Heil won two of his first three matches in the 125 weight class and then won a 9-4 decision to move him on to the consolation semifinals.  Heil lost his next match by an 8-0 major decision and lost by injury default to take sixth place in his weight class.
 
Haralson was a dominate force on the mat as he swept the 133 weight class en route to a first place finish.  Haralson pinned his first three opponents and capped off the night with a 4-0 decision.
 
The 149 weight class was filled with Lindenwood wrestlers including Colton Orlando who finished in fourth place.  Jeff Held went 1-2 including a victory by pin, and Greg Jacquez was 2-2 with a 12-6 decision win and a 17-0 tech fall.  Orlando pinned his first two opponents then fell in an 8-5 decision.  Colton won his next match by a pin at the 4:14 mark, but could not finish his night with a victory as he fell 10-2 in the third place match.
 
Kyle Jolas defeated his first opponent in a 15-5 major decision and won by decision over his next opponent by a final of 7-2.  Jolas lost a tough match in the 165 final by a 5-3 decision.
 
Two wrestlers competed in the 174 weight class including Kyle Summers who won his first match, but lost his next two matches.  Batchuluun Zulkhuu started his night with a 13-2 major decision, but fell in his next match by a 4-2 decision.  Batchuluun pinned his opponent in the consolation semifinal at the 1:25 mark, and placed third in the 174 weight class after a win by medical forfeit.
 
David Hamil had a back-and-forth night that started with a pin at the :54 mark in his first match.  Hamil lost his second match, but bounced back for an 11-6 decision in the consolation semifinal.  David placed fourth in the 184 weight class after a forfeit.  
 
Three Lions crowded the 197 weight class and the first round started with two wins and one loss.  Dillon Archer won by tech fall while Jared McKindley won by decision.  Brett Kingsley fell in his first match by pin, but he fought back to a 6-5 decision over his next opponent.  McKindley lost his next match, while Archer won his second consecutive match with a pin at the 4:34 mark.  Kingsley and McKindley each lost their next match and were done for the night.  Archer fell to the second ranked wrestler in the 197 weight class, Ryan Beltz, by a slim 5-4 decision.  Dustin lost his next match, but finished the night with a 16-12 win to take fifth place.
 
Robert Chism and Jacob Borgmeyer had an interesting night in the heavyweight class.  Borgmeyer won his first match by a 3-1 decision and fell in his second match by a 5-2 decision.  Chism lost his first match by a 3-2 decision, but pinned his next opponent at the 3:34 mark.  Both wrestlers won their next two matches including a pin for Chism and a decision, while Borgmeyer won both his matches by decision.  The two Lions faced each other in the third place match which ended with a forfeit by Chism.
 
Lindenwood will travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to compete in the Greyhound Duals on December 12th at 5 p.m.
