Lindenwood's women's basketball team came out victorious on Wednesday night when they beat Northwest Missouri Bearcats 73-67 in St. Charles. The night was a special occasion, as Lindenwood's lone senior,
Morgan Johnson contributed heavily by scoring eight points, including two threes to help Lindenwood stay ahead. The Lady Lions also received heavy contributions from
Kassidy Gengenbacher, who scored 24 of six-of-fifteen shooting.
Jenny Rocha ended one assist shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine assists.
Vanessa Zailo ended the game with eight points and nine rebounds.

Northwest Missouri State started out hot, but Lindenwood lingered around, relying on Zailo and Johnson. Zailo scored all eight of her points in the first half. Â The Lady Lions shot 44% in the first half to the Bearcats 48%. The Bearcats also had a slight lead in the turnover category 9-8, helping them keep a slight 33-32 edge going into halftime.

To start the second half,
Jerricah Butler hit a corner three and the Lady Lions never looked back. Lindenwood would go on to outscore the Bearcats 41-34 in the second half, riding Gengenbacher's 17 second-half points to a big conference victory on senior night. The Lady Lions went six-for-nine from beyond the arc.

The win moves the Lady Lions record to 11-13 overall and 4-13 in MIAA play. The Lady Lions are looking to be one of the twelve teams to make the MIAA Tournament. In order to help its cause Lindenwood will have to get a victory over Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo. on February 21st.
