The Lindenwood Lady Lions started off slow and could not recover in a 69-49 loss to the Lincoln Blue Tigers on Saturday afternoon in Jefferson City, Mo.
Things did not start off well for the Lady Lions. The visitors shot just 33 percent in the opening half and only scored 18 points. Lincoln would head into the half with a 15 point lead.
Even after a slow first half the Lady Lions did not go away easy. Lindenwood started to chip away at the lead and got to as close as six with just over four minutes to play. But unfortunately, the Lady Lions would not score another point the rest of the game. Lincoln closed the game on a 14-0 run and ran away with the contest.
Jenny Rocha led the way for the Lady Lions with 17 points scored and three assists.
Kassidy Gengenbacher was second on the team with 14 points scored.
Vanessa Zailo led the way on boards with eight rebounds.
Lindenwood ended the game shooting 37 percent from the field and went 0-for-nine from the three-point line.
The loss dropped the Lady Lions to 11-14 overall and 4-14 in MIAA play. Lindenwood will close out the regular season on Wednesday night with a road game against Missouri Southern.
