Lindenwood ended its regular season with a loss to CHA regular season champions Mercyhurst, 7-1. Despite scoring the first goal of the game, Lindenwood couldn't overcome three Mercyhurst power play goals.
Â
Lyndsay Kirkham started Lindenwood off strong, giving the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the first period. After a Mercyhurst goal with three minutes to go in the first period, Lindenwood was in a similar position to last night. The second period Mercyhurst showed why they won the regular season CHA title, scoring back-to-back power play goals putting Lindenwood in a tough spot. Lindenwood couldn't get back on track, and Mercyhurst took control.
Â
The senior night didn't go according to plan, but the Lady Lions that were honored tonight had a profound impact on the Lindenwood hockey program going forward.
