The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team fell in a 1-0 hole in its best-of-three CHA playoff series against Penn State on Friday night in University Park, Pa. The Nittany Lions defeated Lindenwood by a 1-0 score.
Â
The game's only goal came in the first period when Penn State converted its first power-play opportunity. Thirty seconds into the power play, Shannon Yoxheimer scored, with assists from Kelly Seward and Amy Petersen.
Â
Lindenwood goalie
Nicole Hensley was perfect except for that one shot. She made 22 saves to keep the Lady Lions in the game. The offense though continued to struggle in postseason play. The Lady Lions matched Penn State's 23 shots, but couldn't get one past goalie Celine Whitlinger.
Â
Lindenwood was 0-for-four on the power play, although it was a shorthanded shot that was Lindenwood's best chance to tie the game in the third period. Early in the period,
Sarah Bobrowski got a good shot off while the Lady Lions were a man down, but it found the post and bounced away.

Game two of the series will take place on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. (eastern) at the Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pa.
