Four out of five Lindenwood men's basketball starters scored in double figures as the Lions rolled to a 83-71 win over the Lincoln Blue Tigers on Wednesday night in St. Charles. The Lions shot the lights out making a season-high 68 percent of their shots, including a 58 percent night from behind the arc.
Â
Things started off quickly for the Lions and not so quickly for the Blue Tigers. Lindenwood started the night making its first five out of eight shots compared to Lincoln who missed its first six shots.
Â
The Lions quickly pushed its lead to 14 just 6:30 minutes into the game. The Blue Tigers got within 10 midway trough the opening half but the Lindenwood offense continued score and had the lead up to as many as 18. The first half ended with the home team leading by 14.
Â
As the second half started the Lions looked like they were going to runaway and hide pushing its lead up to 16. The Blue Tigers had other ideas. Lincoln battled back into the game with some hot shooting.
Â
With just over two minutes to play in the game the visitors cut the lead down to eight. But two turnovers and two missed threes on four straight possessions killed any hope of a comeback.
Â
Sam Mader had his best night as a Lion scoring a career-high 20 points, blocked a career-high four shots, and grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
Chanse Creekmur and
Cory Arentsen each scored 14 and
Darris Smith chipped in with 13.
Nick Van Osdale led the Lions with six assists while also scoring seven.
Â
Lindenwood won the rebounding battle 25-19 but did turn the ball over 15 times. The Lions also shot well from the charity strip making 91 percent of their attempts.
Â
The win improved the Lions to 15-7 overall and 10-3 in MIAA play. Lindenwood will now head out on the road to take on Missouri Western on Saturday afternoon. Â
