After competing in this weekend's super regionals in Mankato, Minn. the Lions will be sending four wrestlers to compete in NCAA Division II National Championships right in St. Louis, Mo. The four wrestlers will be
Kyle Webb for the 141 weight division,
Terrel Wilbourn in 149,
Derrick Weller in 157, and Jon McArdle in 184.
Kyle Webb showed up in Minnesota anxious to show what he could and did just that, winning the 141 weight class, with very little resistance, only having one decision that was by less than four. Webb won the finals match with an 8-4 decision.
Derrick Weller wasn't ready to end his senior season and made that clear by starting 3-0, before eventually falling in a 1-0 decision in the finals. Wilourn started the tournament out with two major decisions before falling in overtime, but he bounced back with two victories to seal third place. McArdle shook off a second round loss to battle his way into a fourth place finish. McArdle had two major decisions out of his three wins.
Kyle Jolas wrestled well, placing fifth, but fell just short of making nationals.
Lindenwood now gets ready for nationals which will be taking place on March 13th and 14th at Maryville University.
