The No. 4 Lady Lions lacrosse team picked up its fifth win of the season over a nationally-ranked team when it defeated Queens (N.C.) on Monday in Charlotte, N.C. by a 16-12 score.
Lindenwood put the game away in the first half when it outscored Queens by an 11-1 margin. The Lady Lions had 12 shots on goal in the period, while they allowed just six. Five different Lindenwood players scored a goal as the team jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 13 minutes, and a total of seven scored in the half.
Melissa Menchella had four goals and one assist in the first half, and finished with six goal, including the game-winner, and seven points.
Allison Hurley had two goals and two assists, and
Lindsey Palmer had one goal and two assists.
Jordyn Constance and
Danielle Budde each had three groundballs,
Bailey Knapton collected 11 draw controls, and
Maddi Ossello forced two turnovers.
Rachel Ortell made eight saves in goal.
Lindenwood improves to 13-1 on the season. The Lady Lions will end the regular season with three straight home games, starting on Saturday afternoon against Saint Leo.
