Lions Drop Two to Nebraska Kearney

The Lindenwood baseball team completed its suspended game from Saturday and fell 6-5 while the game originally scheduled for Sunday was easily won by Nebraska Kearney 14-1.

On Saturday the Lions began the second game of their doubleheader which Nathan Prindle started with a homerun.  In the second inning Michael Bibbs hit a solo blast of his own to give the Lions a 2-0 lead.  The Lopers came back with three runs in the bottom of the third to take their first lead of the game.  In the bottom of the fourth inning the game was suspended due to weather conditions and both teams began Sunday with a 3-2 ballgame in the bottom of the fourth.

Nebraska Kearney added another run to extend its lead to 4-2.  The Lions scored a run in the top of the fifth to pull within one and took the lead in the sixth inning with two runs.  Lindenwood could not hold the Lopers as they responded with two runs of their own to regain the lead.  Nebraska Kearney held on to defeat the Lions 6-5 on Sunday to complete the second game of the series.

The Lions were unable to bounce back in the second game of the day as they fell 14-1.  Lindenwood committed two fielding errors as only eight of the 14 runs were earned.  The Lions could not generate any offense as they only had five hits.

Lindenwood falls to 22-21 overall and now stand at 13-14 in the MIAA.  The Lions will complete the four game series with Nebraska Kearney on Monday for a single nine-inning game starting at 12 p.m.
