Lindenwood Pulls Off Close 11-10 Victory Against Rockhurst

Lindenwood travelled to Kansas City for Lindenwood's final non-conference game of the season to play Rockhurst University, the result was Lindenwood improving to 12-2 by squeaking out an 11-10 victory. Kevin Eskridge led the Lions offensively by scoring three goals.

Lindenwood let up the first goal of the game with 13:14 left in the first quarter, but Jon George was quick to answer back with a goal of his own. Eskridge got his first goal of the game to give the Lions their first lead of the game at 2-1. Rockhurst scored a goal before the end of the first quarter, to tie it up going into the second quarter.

The nets were getting plenty of action in the second quarter. After a Rockhurst goal to put them up 3-2, George scored on a pass from McNein Hewitt to tie it back up at three. David Corazalla got on the board for his 23rd goal of the season, to give the Lions the lead at 4-3. After a Rockhurst equalizer, Eskridge got his second goal of the game, followed by Joe Roy scoring his first goal of the game to put the Lions up 6-4. Just 13 seconds until halftime, Rockhurst snuck in a goal to put the score at 6-5 going into halftime.

Lindenwood commanded the third quarter, shutting Rockhurst out, while scoring two goals of their own, coming from Brandon Lenz and Eskridge for his third goal of the game to secure the hat-trick. Rockhurst wouldn't go away, coming out shooting in the fourth, scoring the first goal of the quarter. Graeme Hossack scored his 13th goal of the season to give the Lions some breathing room at 9-6. Lindenwood and Rockhurst exchanged back-and-forth goals twice to put the score at 11-8 in favor of Lindenwood with just under five minutes to go. Rockhurst scored a quick goal, then added another one a minute later to shrink Lindenwood's lead to 11-10 with 3:17 left. Rockhurst got three shots off in the final minutes, but Lindenwood got control of the ball at 1:13 and didn't let go, sealing the victory.

Lindenwood capitalized on getting extra opportunities, dominating Rockhurst in groundballs 25-14 and face-offs 17-7. Both teams failed to capitalize on each of their four extra man opportunities.

With the win, the men's lacrosse team improves to 12-2 on the season. Coming up next for the Lions is the regular season finale at home against No. 8 Seton Hill University. The game will be Lindenwood's senior day, and will hopefully send the Lions into the ECAC Tournament with some momentum.
