With three wins against two losses, women's rugby finished third out of nine teams at the Big 10 7's Tournament, April 18 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
In the opening game Saturday morning, the Lady Lions were defeated by Davenport 17-10, but regrouped for an impressive 42-0 shutout of Ferris State. A 22-5 victory over Indiana put the Lady Lions in contention for the Cup finals, but they would have to get past top ranked Penn State in the semifinals. Lindenwood put forth a game effort, but came up short in a 19-10 loss. In the third place contest, the Lady Lions ran to a 29-0 win over the University of Michigan.
Amanda Divich was declared the "Most Valuable Player" for Lindenwood and she also received the tournament Sportsmanship Award. Ariana Lewis and Georgia Page played key minutes for the Lady Lions, who improved to 11-4 in 7's play this season.
Lindenwood returns to action at a 7's tournament April 25-26 in Little Rock, Ark. Games begin at 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
