The Lindenwood softball team split a doubleheader against the Southwest Baptist Bearcats on Thursday afternoon in Bolivar, Mo. The Lady Lions won game one 1-0 but fell in game two 5-2.
The opening game of the day was a pitcher's duel from the get go. The first two innings saw neither team get on the scoreboard. The lone run of the game came in the third inning when
Madeline Bohr hit her first home run of the season.
The single tally was all
Kendall Ryndak needed. Ryndak went all seven innings giving up just three hits and struck out nine.
Game two saw the Lady Lions get on the scoreboard first with two runs in the second inning. Lindenwood held the lead until the fourth inning when the Bearcats scored a single run followed by four more in the fifth. Lindenwood could not stage a comeback and fell to the Bearcats.
Alexandra Newcomb led the offense with two hits and two RBIs.
Morgan Colvis started in the circle for Lindenwood and was strapped with the loss.
After the split the Lady Lions record is 17-33 overall and 6-18 in MIAA play. Lindenwood will finish off its 2015 season on Saturday afternoon against Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo. Â Â
