Women's Lacrosse Sets Program Wins Record On Senior Day

The No. 4 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team concluded its most successful regular season in program history on Saturday morning at Hunter Stadium. The Lady Lions won their school-record 16th game with a 19-4 victory over McKendree.

Lindenwood celebrated Senior Day and its top two offensive players were from the senior class. Melissa Menchella had four goals and one assist, while Lindsey Palmer added three goals and an assist. The seniors scored eight goals in all as Renee Abrolat also scored once. Menchella had the game-winning goal, and Palmer led the team with five groundballs.

Seniors Taylor Mayeda, Renee Abrolat, and Jamie Miller helped anchor a defense that allowed just nine total shots. The final senior, Bailey Knapton, led the team with seven draw controls, and she helped Lindenwood have an 18-7 advantage on draws.

Other notables during the win were Amanda Schimpke and Morgan Judd each having three goals, and Jordyn Constance causing two turnovers.

Lindenwood, which is now 16-1, begins postseason play next Saturday with a first-round RMAC Tournament game in Denver, Colo.
