The Lions men's volleyball team was more competitive on Friday night at Hyland Arena against No. 11 Ohio State than earlier in the season, but the result was the same. Lindenwood fell to the Buckeyes in three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 26-24.
The top player on each team both had big nights, as Lindenwood's
Colin Hackworth finished with 17 kills and a .615 hitting percentage, and Ohio State's Michael Henchy having 16 kills and a .538 hitting percentage. Ohio State's depth was too much for the Lions though as the rest of the Buckeyes had 34 kills, while the rest of the Lions had just 16 kills.
Ohio State finished the match with a .411 hitting percentage, the third-highest allowed by Lindenwood this year. The Lions hit .320 for the match, but couldn't overcome scoring 19.5 less points in the contest.
Kyle Overby was second on the team with eight kills, and he also had two of the team's four service aces.
Roman Seghezzi had team-highs of 31 assists and three blocks, and
Mason Ohta recorded a team-best nine digs.
Lindenwood falls to 11-9 on the season and 6-7 in MIVA play. The Lions return home next Friday with a 7 p.m. game against current MIVA leader Lewis.
