The Lady Lions field hockey team defeated Hendrix 4-0 for its second consecutive shutout.
Greta Banholzer bolted right out of the gate with her first goal of the season at the 2:08 mark off
Maroussia Buysschaert's feed. Ten minutes later,
Karlie Quinn collected her first goal of the season off a pass from
Nicole Johnston to extend the lead 2-0. The rout continued one minute later as
Victoria Buysschaert connected with
Tara Robben to make the score 3-0. Skler Starbeck substituted for
Victoria Gil at goalie at the 18:00 mark and played for the rest of the game. The freshman saved seven shots for the Lady Lions. The Lady Lions shot 31 times in the first half.
Robben scored her second goal of the season at the 46:27 mark that would seal the win for the Lady Lions. The Lady Lions continued putting offensive pressure on the Warriors' defense as they shot 20 more times.
Although the Warriors saved ten shots faced, they could not convert its 12 shots into points. The Lady Lions posted nine corner shots to the Warriors' one. The Lady Lions shot on goal 32 times which was the most of the season.
The Lady Lions return to Hunter Stadium on Sunday 11:00 am to play against no. 8 Limestone.
