Game Recap: Field Hockey (Discontinued) |

Field Hockey Upsets No. 8 Limestone

The Lady Lions field hockey extended its winning streak to three games with an upset 4-3 victory over no. 8 Limestone Sunday morning. This was the Lady Lions' second conference win of the season.

The game stayed scoreless until Tara Robben scored off a penalty shot at the 26:08 mark. However, the Saints responded with a goal before halftime to even the score. Then the flood gates opened with eight minutes left in the second half as Robben scored off a feed from Amelia Rodriguez. The Saints immediately retaliated one minute later to tie the game back up. Greta Banholzer passed to Karlie Quinn for another go-ahead goal two minutes later. It was Quinn's second goal and Banholzer's second assist of the season. Once again, the Saints would not go away as they scored with 2:14 remaining.

Robben then iced the game with the game-winning goal with one minute remaining. That goal was Robben's third on the day and fifth of the season.

Victoria Gil recorded six saves on 19 total shots. The Lady Lions shot a total 17 times with 13 of them on goal. The Saints posted 11 penalty corner shots while the Lady Lions had eight.

The Lady Lions go on the road to face Mercyhurst at Erie, Pa. on Saturday September 19.
