The Lindenwood men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 defeat during a non-conference clash with the Truman State Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon from Kirksville, Mo.

The Bulldogs took control of the match early on as Craig McLaurine cashed in a rebound opportunity for the first goal of the match in the 12th minute, putting the Bulldogs in front 1-0. Just over two minutes later, McLaurine again found the back of the net during an odd man rush for Truman, beating Lions keeper
Andrew Hamerlinck over the top and growing the lead to 2-0. The Bulldog lead remained at two, until the 39:22 mark when a Jeremy Rehagen goal sent the lead to 3-0. Truman would carry the advatage into the half. The Lions narrowly missed a scoring opportunity during the first-half in the 21st minute as
Steven Hutchison fired a shot off of the crossbar.
After being shutout for much of the second-half, Lindenwood did manage to breakthrough in the 85th minute with a header goal from
Stefan Andric. Andric redirected a pass from
Jose Sanchez for the lone Lions goal of the afternoon. In net for the Lions, Hamerlinck faced nine shots on goal, recording six saves.Â
In the end, Lindenwood held the edge in shots (23-11) and corner kicks (14-4) while Truman had the advantage in saves (8-6). Both teams ended the match with an even nine shots on goal.

In defeat, the Lions move their season record to 4-3-1. Lindenwood will next be in action on Saturday afternoon when they visit the Upper Iowa Peacocks from Fayette, Iowa. at 11 a.m. for an MIAA showdown.Â
