Men’s Soccer Outlasts Quincy in Road Triumph

The Lindenwood men's soccer team won its second game in as many days on Sunday night, defeating No. 3 Quincy University Hawks 3-1 in Quincy, Ill.
 
Just eight minutes into the match, the Lions were able to break through and take an early 1-0 lead off of an own goal following a shot on goal from Steven Hutchison. The Hawks would pull even at one at the 24:48 mark, with a header goal from Xhovani Dokaj. Lindenwood recaptured the lead in the 32nd minute, when Eduardo Spragge Campo assisted on Andre Hayne's team-leading third goal of the season. Minutes later, in the 39th minute of the contest, Jose Sanchez redirected a pass from Nijaz Muratovic and headed the ball past the Quincy keeper for his first goal of 2015. The Lions would carry the 3-1 edge into halftime. Lindenwood successfully managed to withstand the pressure put forth by Quincy throughout the second half, winning the match 3-1. In net for the Lions, Andrew Hamerlinck recorded four saves on five shots faced en route to his second win of the season.

For the match, Lindenwood had the advantage in shots on goal (8-6), while Quincy kept the edge in shots (14-13) and corner kicks (3-2). Both teams recorded a total of five saves.
 
With the win, the Lions improve their record to 2-0-0 on the season. Lindenwood will return to action on Tuesday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Rockhurst University in its home opener from Hunter Stadium.
