Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tritons' offense proves too much for Lady Lions

On a Tuesday night that ended in pouring rain at Hunter Stadium, the University of Missouri – St. Louis poured in seven goals against Lindenwood to tame the Lady Lions 7-0.

The Tritons set the tone in the third minute when Sidney Allen shot it through Lindenwood's Zoe Wetzel after Kayla Delgado sent a low cross to the middle of the box. Missouri – St. Louis totaled 10 more shots in the first half, but Wetzel turned away the rest.

The first 11 minutes of the second half barely saw any action as each team traded steals and limited each other's opportunities. That is until goals scored in a matter of 37 seconds from Miriam Taylor and Mckayla Harder quickly brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the visitors. The Tritons saw several openings in the back of the defense and made tight passes to add to their lead. Miriam Taylor found the back of the net again in the 67th minute. After a foul inside Lindenwood's box, Kayla Delgado added to her point total by ripping a shot past Wetzel. Less than 14 minutes later, Delgado launched a shot from 30-yards out in the upper corner to extend the lead to 6-0. Hunter Wagoner capped the night off for the Tritons in their season opener by slipping one past Wetzel in the 89th minute.

Missouri – St. Louis totaled 25 shots, 17 of which were on goal. Wetzel had 10 saves. Lindenwood's Becky Roberts tallied two shots.

The Lady Lions drop to 1-1-1 early on in the 2015 season, and will not be back in action until September 15 at Hunter Stadium when they will battle Truman State.
